On January 14, 1967, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of the USA was founded by nine American members and four Overseas members. One year later, January 14, 1968, the Club had 23 American members, 19 Canadian members and five Overseas members. Since that date, three more American members have been added to the rolls. Most members have paid their 1968 membership dues, but those who have not yet done so should do so as quickly as possible because "The Stafford" from England cannot be ordered for the member until he has paid his dues.
On Sunday, Feb. 4, 1968, the Stafford fanciers of Southern California held their first-ever Stafford Rally at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Rant. Nine of the 11 Staffords resident in the southern California area were present. Most of the fanciers met each other for the first time, and most of the dogs were strangers to each other. Nevertheless, both fanciers and dogs had a most enjoyable afternoon, so enjoyable that the southern California fanciers vowed to have another meeting in the near future.
As most Stafford owners have found out, it is impossible to find the genuine Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog collar (the two-inch-wide collar-upon-a-collar) in the USA, and most fanciers for a variety of reasons have been unable to obtain one from England. We have now located a saddle-maker who is able to make these collars of the finest quality from the English model. Those wishing to obtain the real Staffordshire Bull Terrier collar, designed for and used exclusively by our Breed, can get one by sending $8.00 and the measurement of the circumference of the dog's neck to Steve Stone, SBTC/USA Secretary. Allow two-three weeks for delivery, as each collar is hand-made. Orders from Canada also accepted.
Members desiring a copy of John F. Gordon's latest book, published in December, 1967, "The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Owner's Encyclopedia", may obtain one by sending $5.00 plus sufficient postage to the Secretary. (Sufficient postage: fifty cents.)
